Your journal lives on your device

Still has no account-based cloud sync and makes no automatic server backup. Save a copy before changing devices, removing the app, or making changes that could affect your local data. Your Apple device backup settings may also include app data.

Save a Still backup

Open Settings → Backup & restore → Save a backup. Choose where to save the .stillbackup file in Files. It includes journal pages, favorites, mood history, and feeling check-ins. Preferences and your app-lock setting are not included.

Keep the file somewhere you trust

Still backup files are not separately encrypted. Anyone who obtains one may be able to read it. If you save a file with a cloud provider or send it through another app, that service handles the file under its own terms.

Restore on your device

Open Settings → Backup & restore → Restore backup, choose the file, review the preview, and confirm. Restoration merges the backup with existing data. Pages you already have stay as they are, so this is not a way to undo newer edits. Backups are limited to 50 MB.

Export pages you can read elsewhere

For a readable copy, open Settings → Export journal and choose PDF, Word, or plain text. Select the pages and use the share sheet to save the document. Backing up and exporting existing writing remain available without an active subscription.
